Warmth changes _Everything_ (Marcus)

That’s right the heater has been installed and our lives have suddenly taken on a new light. Everything is better, everything! Bed didn’t feel so cold last night, the lounge room was toasty, the wooden couch didn’t feel so hard, and amazingly when you used the computer in the spare room, you couldn’t see your breath. Oh and the bathroom floor was dry as well, an absolute milestone.

Now that the heating is sorted and our moods have skyrocketed, the shower has decided to crack the sads. You should have heard what was coming out of darling Courty’s mouth when she was in the shower – haha it was a classic. I almost recorded it with the camera through the door(audio, not video!) as it was something like..

“This f&A@#*()%&g shower is Fc8()*()&@Aking f&**()@cked!!!! Oh my god this thing is f()*0982*()ing the worst!!! *(%@*)(*!!! ()&$)(*&!!!! NOW IT’s BURNING, NOW ITS BURNING!!”

That’s right, it goes from ice cold to nuclear in the blink of an eye. Though I tweaked the handles in the kitchen somewhat and I had a nice long shower which was the first decent shower I’ve actually had since arriving. Day 1 had me flailing about on the bottom of the bath, gripping the stupid bloody broken tap handle to stop it spraying everywhere and flopping about like a beached whale. I actually called Courtney in to come and see as it was just ridiculous how bad it was. And yesterday, I tried a shower in the morning and was getting 20 seconds of just below luke-warm, then 20 seconds of just slightly warmer. Same deal at night to the point I was so cold I couldn’t even talk! My teeth were chattering so badly I had to dry as fast as possible and run out to stand in front of our new best friend and ally, the big heater. Oh how we love him.

But yeah, the installation of the heater has made everything sooo much better. We actually lay in bed this morning and felt completely comfortable and warm. The apartment largely held onto its heat too. It was like moving around a regular house for once. The rooms felt cool – like a normal house, not like an icebox. My lips don’t feel so dry and we both feel sooo much happier. We can already look back on the first few days and laugh about it. Those days were just an absolute nightmare, thank god they’re over.

ps. We still cant upload photos, we will as soon as we can. Our laptops remain offline :(

Nice to read the smile in your words. But is the worst over with the installation of the heater? I don't think so. Is this an insight into what is to come? we look forward to reading about more culture shocks, more surprises and last but not least the challenges of teaching!!!!,.... (after all that's why you are there). We stay tuned with baited breath.......there must be a best seller book and a movie in here somewhere. Hmm, Marcus....Brad Pitt?, Courtney?....someone feisty and who can swear in the shower.
